Accessibility

Web content accessibility is about making the web accessible for people of all levels of ability. Accessibility means content is easy to find, read and understand for everyone, including people who:

  • have impairments that affect their vision, reading ability or physical movement
  • have different literacy and education levels
  • come from non-English speaking backgrounds
  • live in areas with limited online services
  • need to use mobile devices such as tablets and smartphones.

The department has been making our websites and online documents accessible in stages. We aim to meet Level AA of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, and we continually review our sites against these standards.

Adjusting text size or contrast

You can adjust your device to suit your individual needs, such as making text larger and increasing contrast.

Alternative formats

Some of our online content, such as technical documents and historical material, may not be accessible with current technology. Many documents on this site are also presented as Portable Document Format (PDF). However, we are happy to provide this information in an alternative format if you have trouble viewing these files.

Please contact us if you experience problems using our website or accessing website content for any reason. Please let us know:

  • what information you need
  • what webpage it’s on ( the URL)
  • what format would help you
  • your name and email address.

More information

All South Australian Government departments and agencies are required to make their online information and services accessible to people of all abilities and disabilities. We use the South Australian Government Online Accessibility Policy to guide our work.

We follow the World Wide Web Consortium Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, which are recognised internationally as a set of recommendations for improving web accessibility.
